Lost Lake Woods Club

The first few days at the cabin, we enjoyed the fun part of being up north: swimming at the beach, strawberry picking before the weather got too hot and steamy, and looking for deer out in the woods in the early evening with Meme and Poppa Ray. A few deer were discovered out in the woods, but the bigger thrill was having the windows out in the Jeep for a little while till the bugs started to find their way inside.

The Club's 4th of July celebration began on Saturday with a morning parade. On their way to the parade with Poppa Ray in the golf cart, they saw two fawns with their mother. They thought this was neat because the deer were so close, so they could see the fawns' white spots. The girls had a good time waving and cheering throughout the parade. The girls each managed to  collect a bag full of sweets and treats from the various float participants.

In the early afternoon, numerous children's activities had been set-up down by the lake, so we ventured over to the area to check it out. The girls enjoyed their pony rides on their pony who had red, white, and blue decorations around their neck. After a few rounds, we proceeded over to the carnival tent where various games were set up for the kids to play. By the time all of the games were played, Adeline and Emmie had another bag full of little trinkets and toys.  In addition,  Adeline had a USA flag painted on her face and Emmie had fireworks painted on her arm. We returned to the cabin to rest from the excitement and cool off, as it had become sweltering hot.

Nick and Laura joined us for the evening festivities. A bonfire was constructed for us to indulge in s'mores. They were tasty, although Emmie preferred to each just the marshmallows.

Then when it became darker, the glowing jewelry was put on and the girls presented a little show for us as they waved their sparklers all around. Finally, the evening was topped off with a magnificent fireworks show.  The band along with the crowd down by the water was creating a good atmosphere, but we had the best accommodations sitting on the front porch and watching the sky light up.

After a nice Sunday breakfast at the clubhouse, we  said our goodbyes, and Colby and us girls made our way across the state to Interlochen.
