We met Adeline as her train arrived Thursday afternoon after being away at camp all week. She was happy to see us and had tons of information to share with us. Here is her week experience as told by her:
On Monday morning, we made the connecting train with five minutes to spare. When we got off the last train, we walked through the forest for about an hour before reaching Gülle-Mühle as we were all tired. When we arrived, we learned the rules and were shown the boundaries. I found my room and the five of us figured out who would be sleeping where. I was on the lower bunk across from Clara and Rebecca was above me. Lilly picked the lowest bed and Jo-Jo was above Clara. We ate in a large room and the tables were set with the plates and silverware, but we had to go to a different table to get our meal. We ate spaghetti and salad for lunch. I had clean-up duty, so I rinsed the dishes before they went into the dishwasher. In the afternoon, we helped each other make our beds. We also played in the little stream that passed by the camp. At first, I went in with my rain boots, but the water filled up my boots, so I went barefoot. For dinner, we ate bread with lunchmeat. We created cards to send home. I found a note from my mom in my pajamas. We went to bed at 11pm.
Wednesday morning, I found a card from Daddy in my day #3 outfit bag before going to breakfast and eating bread again. I shared the treat with Clara. It is neat how they use a spoon to scoop kiwi out to eat it. I have been able to do this myself now for two days. I had clean-up duty again, and this time I dried the the dishes because we had to. It rained, so we stayed inside and did crafts. For lunch, we had meat with sauce over noodles and a salad. In the afternoon, we went with the forester into the woods and learned about the trees. In the afternoon, the older class had a water fight, so I just watched. Fr dinner we had bread and lunchmeat. We had a pajama party. We did not wear our pajamas. The music was too loud for us girls, so we went up to our room to play quietly. I had a headache from the noise along with Rebecca. My teacher came to our room to see how we were all feeling. It was fun to have her in our room. We cleaned up from the party. We also packed up our bags and I found day #4 note as I got out my outfit for going home. I think it is from Bandit as he is the only one who has not sent me a note yet. I opened my day #4 note as tomorrow we will be rushing. I was correct, it was from Bandit. I switched sleeping spots with Clara for tonight. I went to bed at 11 pm.
Thursday morning, our teachers woke us up at 8am. We ate rolls and fruit for breakfast before packing up our sheets and towels. We then carried our suitcases out to the cars. When everyone was ready, we walked back through the forest to catch the train home. When I got off the train, I did not see Mommy and Emmie waiting for me, till Mommy tapped me on the shoulder and called my name. I gave them each a big hug. We gathered my suitcases and headed home.
It was a fun week. I only needed to ask for silverware once and a plate a different time as the tablesetters forgot them. It rained only one day and not all of the days as I saw on the forecast, so next time I am going to pack a pair of capris or shorts. I liked everything about camp. It is way better than a sleepover. I cannot wait till we go again.
When we arrived back home, Adeline was excited to see Bandit with his new haircut. We unpacked Adeline's suitcases while she told all about her class trip. She handed out the crafts she made for us and explained how she made them for us. Emmie quickly showed her the pop-up card we received from her today before we headed to the train station.
After lunch, we headed to the Rhine Main Therme pool to celebrate Adeline returning home safely. We had a great sunny warm afternoon for playing together in the pool.
